A PSA we all would love to see!
So Kaitlyn made a wonderful PSA cap about a week ago that you can see here. I feel bad because I really enjoyed the cap, but didn't comment on it. I didn't only love the cap itself, but I loved the idea of TG PSA series (and I hope that Kaity keeps the idea going!). Well lo and behold it seems that I wasn't the only one enamoured with the idea. Today while doing my routine blog scroll I found out that both Dee and Simone mad their own versions. You can find Dee's here and Simone's here.
Well how can I deny myself the pleasure of making my own PSA cap when these three wonderful ladies have all done the same? My one caveat was that I didn't want to tread the same message style that they used. You see, Kaity's PSA is a warning against the perils of feminization from student loans (NO student loans would be paid if that was in the fine print!). Dee's is a rif on the classic 80s PSA 'where did you learn to do that... FROM YOU DAD!' where she extols the dangers of encouraging your kids to dress by dressing yourself. And Simone's is a cry to help all those unfortunate souls that have been feminized by magic, curses, and body hoppers. All of these are put making men into women or men into sissies in a bad evil light... something to be warned against. So instead of heading down that path I decided to do something like my recent Sissy Service poster.... encourage the act of sissification!
My original intent was to find an image of several beautiful women together and make up some PSA style text encouraging men to live up to their potential by making themselves into women. I figured I would end with text something like '...just like John, Harry and Tom here!'. But once I saw this image, well I just had to use it!
It didn't take much effort to crop it down to magazine size (which I learned the most common magazine stock is 8 3/8 by 10 7/8), and to make the beige background into a warmer pink. While I still liked the idea of encouraging men to become women or sissies, I didn't think this image really worked for it. She seems a little to introspective or nervous. So instead I made the PSA go in the direction of encouraging women to make their men over into sissies. And not just any old sissy... but beautifully made up sissies.
Once I had the story written and the cap more or less laid out, I realized that the text could almost come from my 'Living the Sissy Life' series. While I want to keep the LtSL series with a static design, I figured it wouldn't hurt to add in a little extra oomph by including the 'brought to you by...' tag line.
I hope you get a chuckle out of the cap. It was a fun one to make!
Woohoo! Very cute and I love that both you and Simone made Magazine style PSA's while I went with more of the TV commercial style caption. If you didn't read the text, you'd think it was a Maybelline advertisement!
ReplyDeleteDid you really see mine in an evil light though? I originally had planned on doing a "Parents who do drag will have children who do drag" which technically just takes out the letter U in drugs and changes it to an A in the original quote. However, I wanted it to be more positive, which is why I changed the tagline to "Parents who do drag, have children that are completely FABULOUS!" where the ending could been read in that sassy, sissy gay voice. There probably should be a few finger snaps at the end even! LOL
Dee
Side Note: the Ad Council of America is NOT going to be happy with all these parodies LOL
HA! I just might make a Maybelline advertisement... "Maybe he's born with it. Maybe it's Maybelline!"
DeleteI don't know if I should qualify yours as 'evil', but it really brought up the drug PSA that you based it on and I guess that carried the feeling. Drugs are bad, your kid doing drugs is bad, you inspiring your kid to do drugs is bad. But like most Dee captions there's a twisting zinger at the end that makes it all ok!
Dear Caitlyn, Kaitlyn, Dee and Simone,
ReplyDeleteAll of you are driving this sissy insane! And I love it!!
Big sissy kisses,
Leeanne
P.S. Thanks so much for helping with public awareness. Sissies' needs are quite extensive!!
You went to the next step for me, dear. I planned on doing a sissy style one next and I still might. You'll just have to wait. I still have yet to have someone as a proper example. . . it could be YOU!
ReplyDeleteAlso, those personal touches are VERY well done.
Dear Mistress Simone,
DeleteAre you addressing this meek sissy? Somehow it feels as though you may be. If that is the case you have caused me to be seriously apprehensive.
Kneeling,
Leeanne
Terrific cap, Caitlyn. Love the idea of ad parodies. I might have to try one myself one of these days, but you and Simone have set the bar pretty high!
ReplyDelete(Dee's was nicely done as well, but I prefer the magazine-style format.)
I've always personally enjoyed TG themed advertisement paradises. In fact I made one about three years ago extolling the virtues of tHarmony: http://caitlynsmasks.blogspot.com/2011/02/t-harmony.html
DeleteWow… I posted my PSA a week ago and had no clue until now I had started a caption movement… I guess that's what I do now. Glad to see it's inspiring some awesome creations like this one.
