This is about the blog, and not a cap.
You know, it's been a long long time since I paid attention to this blog in any way other than posting or publishing something. I guess I've been a little... tied up? Anywho, I don't know what burr got into what part of my body but when I started the day, I started working on Caitlyn's Masks. And yes, if it helps, go ahead and picture me in a cute sexy french maid's outfit while I did all the spring cleaning in mid November.
First up was my bio, Behind The Mask. It wasn't wrong and there wasn't a lot to add since I'd last updated it in 2019 (all of life since COVID?) but I wanted to add the part about changing jobs, getting the migraines and ending up not working. I also changed the photo I had there. I liked my old format of having a masked woman in black and white with the mask and maybe her lips and eyes colored pink... but I've been doing that a long time. This time I just selected a nice image of a masked woman (that theme ain't going anywhere!) and desaturated everything except her hair (red hair! YAY!) and her lips. The rest was just cleaning it up. Putting a good polish on it, you might say.
Next was creating a page called "Where is Caitlyn?" No, this isn't a travel log or anything like that. I realized I had presences on several platforms now and most of them had unique content. Plus there are multiple ways to get in touch with me. I followed the theme I had with Behind the Mask and used another masked image, but desaturated it more and kept her bright red lips and coat this time. And yes, if you look at that image, you might catch the reference I was going for. Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego! We'll call this one washing and folding and putting away new clothes.
Adding that to my pages list just below the header graphic didn't look right. So I eliminated the 'Non-Cap Posts' page. I didn't really keep that up to date enough anyway. I also added the page link for my other blog and eliminated the page link for 'Come Play With Me'. Come Play With me has a prominent space on the main page with a cute graphic and I've made my other blog more open, but no one ever goes there. If that doesn't pick up after a few months I may just eliminate the link and replace it with something else. We'll call this sweeping and mopping the floors.
I don't exactly remember when I did it, but I remember making an effort to eliminate all colors from the site. I wanted to play up a more somber tone. And that worked, for awhile, but I've missed having some color around the place. And since I now actually log into my chrome browser (I have a 'Caitlyn' profile and everything!) and no longer view these pages in incognito mode, I noticed just how dark the 'visited' links were. So I made the titles to posts and almost all the links shades of pink. The final piece of that puzzle was adding color back into the header graphic. I tried coloring in the mask itself, but it looked just too garish with everything in shades of pink. So I just went with the text. If I'm honest, I think the pinks may be TOO bright... but I'm going to give it some time and see if it grows on me. We'll call this decorating for the upcoming holiday.
And finally, I cleaned up my 'favorite blogs' and 'favorite links' removing blogs that hadn't been updated in years and links that were now broken. I hated eliminating some of those blogs, like Jennifer as we capped together for awhile there, but it really needed to be done. Now I just need to go through and find some replacements to make my mood better. We'll call this one taking out the trash.
So, my maidly duties done, I present to you the 2019 version of Caitlyn's Masks. It isn't a big change, but any change should be celebrated. Right?
It's about time you cleaned up this place. The Master will arrive soon, and the place should be tidy for his return!
ReplyDeleteI need to trim my pubes too (pruning the blogs like you did) and try to rediscover some blogs I haven't paid too much attention to over the last few months of bitching about what has become of Blogger. Maybe this will give me the impetus to do so. I'm not sure people realize how close I was to closing up shop earlier this year.
Anyway, I hope you took a nice bubble bath once you were done with your chores!
