This is the caption I've had in mind for the past week or so for AnneOniMouse. And while it didn't quite pan out the way I originally intended, I think it turned out fairly well. Especially considering how long it took to create from seeing the images to posting it here.
I started out with the idea of following one of Anne's fantasies. She lists them like this:
- Romantic - a girl I know and fancy begins to notice my more feminine tendencies and brings them out making me her lesbian girlfriend
- Forced - a neighbour notices that I am not exactly macho and finds out my girly secret. Suddenly he takes over my life and forces me into becoming his girlfriend/wife
I know I've made one of each type for her, but they are both fun scenarios to write, and she seemed to enjoy both of them. I figured the next step was to search for images, and then they'd tell me which story to go with. It's really kind of fun to look for images like this as I can peruse both lesbian image sets as well as man/woman image sets. Doing so, I came across these two images (I found them on fuskator, but didn't save the direct link, so I only have these images two to show):
At the time I didn't get any direct idea out of them, but I figured that either would make a good image to work off of, so I saved them and came back to them the next day. Looking at them, I had a very vague idea... why not use BOTH of Anne's fantasies. I could start off the transformation with a woman who sees the femininity in Kevin. After the transformation was finished, she'd take Kevin back to her house only to introduce 'Karen' to her husband who would then enforce her femininity.
But beyond that idea, I didn't get anything going. So it was saved again and revisited a couple days later. I still didn't get far, but fleshed out the backbone of the story a bit. Here's what I wrote down for myself:
------------
New neighbors move in. Kevin is very attracted to Vicky. Invited to a threesome, but is uncomfortable being in a situation with another man.
Vicky sneaks over and promises to make Kevin over into her perfect girlfriend. Says she already has the perfect man, she just wants a more feminine lover.
changes Kevin into Karen using her fingertips. Kevin is excited as he's dreamed of being a woman, but scared at the same time. Silences him with deep passionate kisses.
last part of transformation is playing with Karen's new pussy. Invites Karen back to her house to 'play with some toys'. Is met at the door by her husband. He admires Karen's beauty and wants Vicky to train her so that they can get 'Kevin' a girlfriend.
---------
And sadly that's where the images and story sat for a couple weeks. I knew I had the basis of either a very slow and seductive story, or a very squirmy forced tale... but I just wasn't in the mood to write it out. The one time I ended up being in the mood to write this, was when I wrote out "F.U.C.K.D"... but I didn't KNOW I was in that moot until the story had overwhelmed me, and by that time it was to late to get back to this story.
I tried on and off again a few times, but still wasn't satisfied with how I was starting the story. Finally we come to this morning... I was feeling rather frisky and figured I could transfer this odd nervous energy into a cap... and Anne's cap had the best potential.
I don't know why I try to figure out how much text I want to go into a cap any longer... I always underestimate it, often by quite a bit. This time I was was shooting for about three paragraphs per panel. As you can see by the final result, I practically doubled that. But I was just so happy while writing that I didn't even think of design concerns and just kept writing.
While I was writing the last few paragraphs I started chatting with Mistress Simone. So when I went to look at the design and saw that there wasn't a good easy way to fit all that text in these photos, it reminded me of a cap she recently made over at the haven called "Lust's Rebirth or Pink Friday". Mistress Simone had needed some extra space for text, and extended the background enough to fit it in and just faded the background to a cute pink. Well... I could use that! So I cropped the images a little tighter, and then extended the canvas off to the left, giving me room for all the text. It took me a few times to get it just right, but when it was done I only had to edit out a couple lines of text to make it line up perfectly.
Here is roughly what that process looked like:
The original file as I had it saved (I think I had cropped it a bit when I first saw it)
Cropped tighter on the right, and extended canvas on the left.
Added in a slight gradient from white to the photo.
Added and tweaked the text to fit over the fade.
Added the slightly opaque text box.
And finally add the title and my watermark.
At that point making the second panel was as easy as sliding that image over the first photo and under the white gradient, copy it's text over the first panel's text, and tweak it to fit. The only edit's I made directly to the photos was taking out "Karen's" finger that is barely visable on "Vicky's" neck. It just stood out under the text too much.
While I was working on the design I sent the story over to Mistress Simone to read. As often happens when I finish writing, I was very excited and wanted someone else's opinion before I finished up the cap. I was a little taken aback by her response as she seemed to really REALLY like it. She even suggested that I post it to Fictionmania as a Story With Images. I guess I just have a tough time evaluating a story once I finish it. I can't tell the difference between a passably good story, a good story, and a great story until I've sat with it for a few days... and of course I'm too impatient to wait that long so I often post caps before I have a real handle on it. So hearing such fine praise from a cap artist that I respect as highly as Mistress Simone really meant a lot to me.
At the same time though, I didn't think it was worth posting to Fictionmania. I mean, after all it's only an 8k story (when saved in txt format). When I read stories at fictionmania, I'll often just pass by stories that short. But ... Mistress Simone convinced me to give this a try. So later today or tomorrow I'll try posting this small story (I hesitate to even call it a 'short story' because of it's length) to fictionmania. If it get any kind of good review, I'll post my other short stories that I wrote while making caps "Getting Clean", and "Happiness Found". Hopefully doing so will inspire me to get back to writing up "Language Barrier"
I normally try to post a cap here at Caitlyn's Masks as soon as I post it to the Haven (obviously when it's a trade, otherwise it just goes up here). But today as soon as I posted this to the haven and started writing up this post, I got side tracked with Lunch (Mmm... Spam on Rye), and a gargantuan shopping trip to Sam's Club (filled the back of a damn mini van!). So while I normally end a post hoping that the recipient enjoys the cap, I now see that Anne has already responded on the Haven, and seems to like it. So with that in mind... I hope all of you other fine readers enjoy the cap as well!
***Edit 4/4/2013***
Getting the story published to Fictionmania was a lot simpler than I thought. They actually had it up and available to read less than 24 hours later. You can view the story here. Fair warning though... it's just the original text that's in the cap. The only edits I made were to make the text fit, so it's not much different at all.
