Learning to Blow

Instructions not included

This was a fun quicky.  After catching up on all the capping action I missed this weekend and while chatting with several friends I wanted to just make a fun quick cap.  Nothing too 'porntastic' or deep and emotional... just something that would get a chuckle.

I wasn't looking for a particular image, just one of a sexy girl with a fun expression.   An expression that would send me into fun mode.  But when I came across this one.... well the title wrote itself.  With the title and the most basic story line in mind I brought the image into Photoshop and started right into the design.  Once I had it set up with some fun colors and a playful background I opened up word and got this story down in two tries.  The first try was basically the first paragraph... but it felt just a touch too short.  So I added in the note and made the joke a little more obvious.

The story went into the design easily, although I have to say I'm not happy with where the text ended up.  I originally wanted to have the first paragraph in the upper left corner, then the note and final paragraph in the lower right.  With the title in the upper right I felt it would balance out nicely.  But the text box just didn't look good covering up her hair.  Sure, I could have flipped the image, but I have a problem with the subject looking to the left.  Seriously.  I always want the subjects to be looking toward the right.

So this is the compromise position... having the entire story in the lower left.  Sure it's actually 'more' balanced this way, but it feels a little less dynamic to me.

Oh well... it's still fun, and I don't think the position of the text box will change the chuckle that I'm striving for!

  1. Looks like Luna may have made Ian a bit too ditzy. An excellent light and fun summer cap!

Did you update the image though? I could have sworn the first time I read it it said early instead of dearly.

  2. Thanks Kyra! And yes, I did update the image. But you had to hit the blog at JUST the right time. I swear I left the original up for all of about one minute!

    1. Google reader is pretty good at keeping up with all the super awesome blogs I follow. Normally I wouldn't have called attention to the typo, but I wanted to be sure I wasn't going crazy(er).

  3. Reminds me of an old movie quote ...

"You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and... blow."
