I PASSED!

I never knew what 'Joy' was before!
I'm not going to beat around the bush.

I PASSED THE NCLEX!!

I can hardly believe it.  I am feeling the exact opposite of how I felt when I failed the NCLEX on the first try.  As deep and harrowing as that depression and self pity was, is as high and all encompassing this happiness and pure joy is now.   I haven't stopped smiling since I logged in and saw that one little word:

pass

I know there is still a long road ahead of me.  Getting a job, probably getting a better degree, moving up and getting better jobs... not to mention personal accomplishments like getting married and having children... but for now.... for this moment in time... I don't believe that happiness comes in a bigger package.

pass

No longer a Student Nurse.
No longer a Graduate Nurse.

I am now a Registered Nurse.

I can't thank you all enough.  Your warm thoughts and kind words were the light that guided me through the darkness that failing the NCLEX brought around me.  Three months ago I didn't think I would ever see this day.  I was prepared for failure this time just so that I wouldn't fall down as hard again if it happened.  And honestly... after the test shut off with only 75 questions my fears grew.

Maybe that's why it hurt so much last time.  I was prepared for success and handed failure.  And this time while I was prepared for failure I was handed success.  But honestly I don't care why it feels so good... I am going to take this time and celebrate!

  9. CONGRATTTTTTTSSSSSSSSS CAITLYN ;) I just ended today my last exam for this first year of University and I know I scored some good results, It's great when you work so hard for something and get what you rightfully deserve. So I know what are you feeling right now ;P

Double Happy after watching this today, congratulations again! Never feel depressed when you get bad results because as a Japanese saying goes: "Nana korobi ya oki" If you fall seven times, stand up eight. SO It means never feel decayed after failing and keep on trying, you never know what may happen next!

Gosh I'm super excited right now! Congrats!!!

    Hugs and Kisses Alectra

  11. Thank you everybody! I'm still grinning from ear to ear. Of course being afraid that it was a mistake, I must have 'double checked' the results several dozen times last night. But this morning I got even better news... I am now listed on the State's website along with my Licence Number! WOO HOO!!

Of course this warm fuzzy feeling will be wearing off soon, and I will begin the next chapter... finding a job. I plan to hit the hospital sites, the career sites, the long term care facility sites, and any other site that may list nursing vacancies.

While the nation as a whole is in a nursing shortage, I unfortunately live in an area of the country with a large glut of nursing schools. So I am not the only one out there looking. But I'll put as much determination into getting a job as I did to graduating and passing the test!

Thank you again. It really means a lot to see so many people happy for me!

    1. Well, I can't promise anything, but if you happen to be looking in my area, I may be able to put your name in with a few people. For instance, my Aunt is an RN, and also is the head of the Turberculosis Program for the state. Drop me a line if you are interested.

    2. As to the nursing shortage, if you don't mind moving too much, some places might offer moving expenses and a bonus after 6 full months on the job. I have a friend who's mom would pretty much travel across the country doing 6 months to a year at one place then move to another for the bonuses.

    3. Yea, I know I could do that. The licence I get from this state will transfer to some states, but many will require getting their licence.

But honestly I prefer to stay close to 'home'. My immediate family is here in town and many of my friends are as well. I'll be willing to move about an 'hour' away but not much further.

  12. I'm late here and a random person, but congratulations nevertheless. Tis an awesome achievement and I hope that warm fuzzy feeling remains long afterwards - you clearly deserve to feel it for a while longer yet!

I hope it carries you forward, onward, to jobs and beyond!

    1. One step ahead of ya there. I already printed the early test results and the licence number... both printed from websites.

Once I get the 'official' documentation that will be printed and framed right next to my degree!

  15. I know I'm late to the party, but let me extend my heartfelt congratulations too. I know first hand the thrill that you've experienced having both failed and passed a test of extreme importance as well. Be proud of your hard work.
